Brief Description: 40 Hour Fire Investigator (NFPA 921 &1033)

Full Description: This class is being conducted by the local agency listed in the signup details section below, please refer any questions to that agency. The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy staff is not teaching this Course.

The certification fees will be billed upon enrollment into this class.

Only students who successfully complete this program will be eligible for certification testing.

DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING

This program is designed for entry level investigators who may be called to investigate fires or explosions in their jurisdiction. The use of NFPA 921, Guide for fire & explosion investigations is the accepted manual for fire investigators. Using the scientific method of fire investigations, following NFPA 921, and meeting the NFPA 1033, Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, students will be prepared to start investigating fires and explosions. Subjects covered are as follows: Administration, Basic Fire Methodology, Basic Fire Science, Fire Patterns, Building and Fuel Gas Systems, Legal and others.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be recommended to take the Fire Investigator certification examination offered by the Louisiana Firefighter and Emergency Responder Certification Program.

Prerequisites: Must have high school diploma, or a G.E.D.
