This class is being conducted by the local agency listed in the signup details section below, please refer any questions to that agency. The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy staff is not teaching this Course.

The certification fees will be billed upon enrollment into this class.

Only students who successfully complete this program will be eligible for certification testing.

DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING
In-house (local agency ) Operations level responders are those persons who respond to hazardous materials/WMD incidents for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, the environment, or property from the effects of the release. They should be trained to respond in a defensive fashion to control the release from a safe distance and keep it from spreading.

The Carencro Fire Department, Grand Coteau Fire Department, and St. Landry Parish Fire District #4 are proud to present the 2nd Acadiana Volunteer Firefighter Academy, a regional training program designed to prepare and certify volunteer firefighters across Acadiana. This academy delivers a full NFPA-based curriculum taught by certified instructors and includes the following courses: CPR with Stop the Bleed and Bloodborne Pathogens Hazmat Awareness Hazmat Operations Firefighter I Firefighter II All classes will be held in person at Carencro Fire Station #3, located at 911 W. Gloria Switch Rd, Carencro, LA 70520. Live fire evolutions will take place at the St. Landry Parish Training Center. Classes are scheduled for: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM Some Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM While attendance is expected for all in-person sessions, a hybrid webcam option is available only as a backup for students who may miss occasional classes due to unavoidable conflicts. This is not intended to replace in-person attendance. The academy uses the Fundamentals of Firefighter Skills and Hazardous Materials Response, Fifth Edition by Jones & Bartlett. Each participating agency is responsible for providing: A textbook with an access code CPR certification fees Testing fees Open to all volunteer firefighters in the Acadiana region.
