Full Description
This program is designed for entry-level investigators who may be called to investigate fires or explosions in their jurisdiction. NFPA 921, Guide for Fire & Explosion Investigations, is the accepted manual for fire investigators. Students will be prepared to start investigating fires and explosions using the scientific method of fire investigations, following NFPA 921 and meeting the NFPA 1033 Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator. Subjects covered are as follows: Administration, Basic Fire Methodology, Basic Fire Science, Fire Patterns, Building and Fuel Gas Systems, Legal, and others.

Upon successfully completing this course, the participant will be recommended to take the Fire Investigator certification examination offered by the Louisiana Firefighter and Emergency Responder Certification Program. Certification testing is included in the course tuition and fees.
